The ispaghul is a gentle plant for the intestinal transit. Also known by the name of Indian plantain or psyllium, this plant owes its effectiveness to the casing that surrounds its seeds: on contact with water, this casing inflates, thus increasing the volume of stool and thus facilitating its evacuation. The most interesting aspect of ispaghul, as its effect is purely mechanical, it can be used regularly without fear of irritating the intestinal mucosa. However, for it to work properly, ispaghul should always be taken with a sufficient amount of liquid.
