It is a food supplement that provides vitamin B3 involved in organic reactions that allow energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is involved, along with other B vitamins, in reactions that allow energy to be obtained from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It is a component of the glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which maintains balanced blood glucose levels. It is also involved in the metabolism of essential fatty acids, in the formation of red blood cells and in the synthesis of several hormones: estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, cortisone, insulin and tyrosine. At high doses it has a vasodilator and hypocholesterolemic effect, reduces the synthesis of VLDL and increases HDL cholesterol.
