Inositol is an organic compound from the polyol family that has pseudovitamin (Vitamin B8) properties. It is a component of the cell membranes and is especially present in the central nervous system and muscle tissue.
In cosmetics, it is commonly used as an ingredient in moisturising creams or skincare lotions. It mainly has a moisturising function, i.e. it helps the skin to maintain its natural hydration. On the other hand, it is also an ingredient in hair conditioners or hair masks. Thanks to its moisture-absorbing properties it helps to improve the hair's appearance and prevent breakage and frizz.
