The body needs vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol to have healthy bones, muscles, and nerves, it contributes to the proper functioning of the nervous, muscular, and immune systems. It helps the body absorb calcium found in foods or supplements, an essential nutrient for bone formation.

Vitamin D3 is produced in the dermis (deep layer of the skin) through the stimulation of UVB radiation. To a lesser extent, it can also be obtained through diet, with animal products such as oily fish.
