Menthol is a compound extracted from plants such as peppermint (Mentha x Piperita) and can also be manufactured synthetically. As an ingredient in gels and creams for topical application, or orally, either in lozenges, herbal teas or gummies, it provides a very refreshing and soothing action.

In tablet or gummy form, it is used to soothe the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract, and to soothe mild discomfort in the oral cavity, as it has a mild analgesic effect.
