L-cystine is a sulphur-containing amino acid that is contained in keratin, the protein that makes up nails and hair. A good dietary intake of L-cystine therefore contributes to good hair and nail health. Food sources of L-cystine include meat, cephalopods (such as cuttlefish and squid), nuts and seeds, and spirulina algae. It can also be added to the diet in the form of a booster supplement. Taken with vitamin B6, it is a good support for healthy hair fibre formation and nail growth.

It actually works from 4 months onwards, as indicated in the package insert. But it has a big drawback: you get hair from different parts of your body (very black) and the ones you already have become very black. I really see it as a problem, especially for the ones on your face and neck.
