Salvelox povidone iodine is an antiseptic used to disinfect the affected areas of the skin. It does not stain the skin very much and does not irritate it.

It is used in 4-10% solutions to disinfect open wounds and small burns, as well as to disinfect pre-surgical material, catheters and dialysis equipment.

*Its potency is lower than that of iodized alcohol, but it has a lower incidence of adverse reactions.
