Description
MyStar Extra from Sanofi Aventis laboratories is a compact and intuitive blood glucose meter, simple to use and accurate, which helps people with diabetes manage their condition peacefully. This self-monitoring device has a new feature: the estimation of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c)*, to raise awareness of the importance of monitoring. It measures blood glucose using dynamic electrochemistry, thanks to a small drop of blood (0.5 μl) taken from the fingertip. The result is provided in an average of 5 seconds, with a range of results between 20 to 600 mg/dl. It has a large screen with intuitive icons, rubberised non-slip sides, and prominent backlighting. It can store 1865 blood glucose results in memory along with the date, time, and averages. It calculates averages for fasting blood glucose, before and after meals over 3, 7, and 30 days. It is intended for patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Compatible with MyStar/BGStar test strips and the MyStar Connect® (Desktop) diabetes data management software, which is reserved for healthcare professionals. *The HbA1c estimation does not replace laboratory testing.
