Smith & Nephew Durafiber Medic is a CE medical dressing designed with gel-forming ethylsulfonated cellulose fibers. It is indicated for:
- Treatment of chronic and acute wounds
- Superficial and deep injuries
It does not contain resins or latex, which reduces the risk of allergic reactions.
The mechanism of action of ethylsulfonated cellulose provides the following advantages:
- Absorbent and capable of gel-forming the exudate
- Control of lateral dispersion of the exudate
- Maintenance of a moist environment on the surface of the injury, reducing the risk of bacterial infections
- Its structure adapts to the shape of the wound, avoiding empty spaces where bacteria could proliferate
