The synthesis of vitamin D in the skin by the action of the Sun, is generally not sufficient to meet the daily requirements of vitamin. A significant percentage of the population receives little sunlight, making it necessary to a dietary supply of vitamin D.
It is in these cases that it is recommended to take a nutritional supplement to meet these nutritional needs. Vita D acts for the prevention of vitamin D deficiency, lack of intake, little exposure to the Sun or malabsorption.

Vitamin D3 is produced in the dermis (deep layer of the skin) through the stimulation of UVB radiation. To a lesser extent, it can also be obtained through diet, with animal products such as oily fish.
